Rant #02
September 1st, 2008 by Scott Battye in Rant | Read all (2) Comments »

Hello again,

Bringing you another Rant from my desk here at the BlueIrn directors area (in otherwords right now, from my computer at home).

Today I’m going to be going on about a few things, so I don’t mind if you fall asleep or loose attention to my rant, as it was kind of mindless to begin with. What am I going to be ranting about today? Oh you’ll just have to read on and see.

And Again…
August 12th, 2008 by Scott Battye in Stuff | 1 Comment »

So, once again, it has been a while…

Guess what though, It’s been a while, but I’ve got absolutely nothing to say, I cannot honestly think of a single thing that needs to be mentioned at this point in time. So, I guess this basically serves as a post to check that anyone still reads :P provided people read my crap in the first place…

Got some stuff I am working on though, not going to shed any light on it just yet, but I’ll get around to it…

So, it’s been a while?

Hey everyone,

It’s been a while hasn’t it? I gotta say, having two blogs to keep up to date was becoming a pain in the ass, so I dropped the BlueIrn Development Blog (Since not a lot really happens over there anyway) and am keeping this one for future personal use (As if the particularly personal subdomain had blog name didn’t give that away).

So, what’s been happening you ask?

OMG Frank O’Connor…
May 21st, 2008 by Scott Battye in Stuff | No Comments »

I was just getting myself updated with the latest news on Bungie.net (Since I haven’t been on in it in a while) and I’ve only just read that Frank O’Connor (Frankie) had announced that he’s leaving Bungie Studios.

Hang on, I’ll grab a small part of his letter to the fans:

“I am leaving you. I am off to work more closely with Microsoft on the Halo franchise, so I shan’t be too far away, but I wanted to take this last chance, appropriately enough in a Weekly Update, to tell you a very fond thanks. Thanks for being the most energized, enthusiastic, loyal, faithful, creative, imaginative and incredible community any video game could ever have.

Thanks for being patient when things went wrong, when playlists didn’t work, when matchmaking broke, when bugs were being fixed. Thanks for the mail, the screenshots, the movies, the machinima, the models, the paintings and the sheer enthusiasm and talent you’ve shown me over the years.”

I, as a close Halo fan, respect his decision to want to stay close to the franchise, and I, as one of many, wish him all the best.

If you went to http://blueirn.net or http://blog.blueirn.net and ended up here, then fear not, you are simply feeling the effects of a site upgrade :)

Yes, that is right, another update; and yes, I know, it hasn’t been long since the last one, but this is one I’m sticking with for a while. My team seem to like it, and those that I’ve let in on the secret seem to like it as well, so I’m going to stick with it :) .

Anyway, should be fine in around 30 minutes.
Hope to see you on the forums,
Scott.

So…

So I’ve been working on the latest things to do with BlueIrn. Hence the lack of updates.

For those of you who are reading, my apologies, I’ve got to get back into the swing of this blogging thing.

In BlueIrn related topics, I’ve been working on a few things. Some I wont tell you, but I am prepared to reveal to you this:

BlueIrn Web Studios is Coming!

Ok, so the font size was a little big. But I think it gets the message out right? I mean, after all, it is coming so why not the world know about it by making it as big as that? So the Studios are coming (not the office just yet but I’m hopeful :P ) what else is on the cards in the not-to-distant future?

Well there is one thing I’m not telling anyone about. However, you’ll probably find out about that in the next few days anyway so I wont really need to tell you. But in other areas, own downloads script is being modified into the site, and, as mentioned, the studios are currently under construction (In the design phase at the moment). Now as you’ll notice, the correct name is in fact “Web Studios”, and I’ll explain at a later date exactly why this is so, in the meantime, happy reading.

Regards,
Scott (Scav3nger).

Rant #01
April 15th, 2008 by Scott Battye in Stuff | Read all (2) Comments »

Hey everybody,

Here I am supposed to be doing my Introduction to Programming assignment, but I’ve found nothing better to do with my time but write up a rant post. Lovely isn’t it? (Just to clarify, Intro to Programming is so far one of the most pointless courses ever)

So what am I going to rant about?

Today’s rant is directed at the Xbox360, I have absolutely nothing wrong with the console itself (to date) and couldn’t be happier with it, however, there’s some things that have bugged me since getting my hands on the Elite version of the console.

The lack of black accessories
I could understand a reason for why they wouldn’t make everything for the Xbox360 black, but the fact that black memory units and the like don’t exist (Anywhere that I’ve looked in Australia that is) is rather annoying, it means those of us with the black edition of the console have to have white accessories standing out from the crowd.

Media Console?
Did I read somewhere that the Xbox360 Elite was the media edition of the consoles series? I find it rather odd then that as the media edition of the console, it fails to include what the premium console did. A media remote. The fact that the premium console now comes with HDMI also starts to diminish the purpose of getting the Elite Console to start with, given the fact you buy 120Gb hard drives for the console off the shelf to put in your Premium console.

Power Guzzler
Why is it that the brick has to use so much power even when the console isn’t on? (The brick being the power pack) The pack itself surely has no need to consume power when the console is not active, unless the owner has set their console to download while even while off. (Which I still come to grips with how that works)

But like I say, I have no other problems with the console, it was a worthy purchase. Hopefully Microsoft have plans of widening their range of black accessories though.

End rant.

Scott.

The First Coming
April 14th, 2008 by Scott Battye in Stuff | Read all (5) Comments »

So I’ve finally finished my new theme! I guess now it’s time I started using my blog a lot more to compliment my finished piece. Interestingly enough, although it’s not my best work, I am happy with the design of the theme and have no intentions of changing this one anytime soon.

Anyway, I’m still working on changing some parts of the BlueIrn overall theme, working on incorporating the new BlueIrn Logo into the site. I reckon it looks pretty sweet for a text based logo :P time will tell what everyone else thinks.

Anyway, that’s all for now, I’ll post another update soon.

Regards,
Scott

Yep, it’s a new blog…
April 13th, 2008 by Scott Battye in Stuff | No Comments »

And I mean new, I deleted all the old stuff and started with a brand new blog. I’ve started working on the new theme for it again, so I’m making some minor progress, I’ll do some more work on it later, but at the moment I’m posting from my Games Studio Tutorial, so I can’t type much.

I’m working, so I’d best get back to it.

Scott.
